Key elements to a balanced literacy program are: literacy centers; guided reading; shared reading; read-alouds; independent reading;interactive writing; independent writing; and alphabetics (Mackey & White, 2004). This article presents concrete examples on how a SLMS can collaborate and support the key elements for a balanced literacy program.
